Sustainability
At SCR GmbH, we are committed to doing our part to protect our planet from harmful influences and have taken initial steps to achieve this goal.
By converting our hall lighting to energy-efficient LED lighting and implementing a more efficient compressed air concept, we have already achieved measurable improvements.
In 2022, we had an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) drawn up for our reinforcing steel product for the base year 2020 in order to better assess the extent of CO₂ emissions in our production. The results of that analysis prompted us to further optimize the utilization of our trucks and switch to green electricity.
By the end of 2023, we had tracked the carbon footprint for our entire company to subsequently reduce CO₂ emissions generated during production by optimizing our processes. In addition, we implemented targeted projects to offset the remaining CO₂ emissions and worked toward CO₂-neutral production.

SCR GmbH - For a sustainable future
History
Since the founding of the company by Matthias Wagner and the Konrad Kleiner GmbH & Co.KG in 1992, our focus has been on quality and innovation.
With an impressive capacity of 60,000 tons, production began at our Riesa facility in 1993. This first phase was characterized by successful establishment on the market and strong growth momentum.
Having reached an important milestone, the 2004 launch of our Glaubitz facility with a state-of-the-art machine park enabled us to optimize production processes and increase efficiency while offering our customers first-class products.
After expanding hall capacities and optimizing production processes in 2010, production of reinforcement cages was moved to the newly enlarged facility. A new modern machine was purchased, enabling us to significantly broaden our range of bored pile reinforcement cage products. Along with this relocation, the acquisition of another four new, highly-efficient machines for the processing of coiled concrete reinforcement steel allowed us to increase and optimize both product diversity and production capacity.
In order to meet growing demand for reinforcement cages, machinery in our welding shop was expanded in 2012. The acquisition of an additional machine for the production of bored pile reinforcement cages enables us to further increase our capacities and offer even more flexible and faster customized solutions to our customers.
Targeted investments were made in 2018 to expand our logistic capabilities and provide our customers with even faster and more efficient services. By purchasing two tractor units with two semi-trailers each as well as one crane truck, we were able to increase our delivery speed and reliability in local transport.
In response to increasing requirements, machinery in the bending shop was modernized in 2019. Paying particular attention to implementing the latest technology enables us to carry out demanding 3D bends precisely and efficiently. We therefore invested in a new double bending machine as well as a new automatic stirrup bending machine, both of which can produce 3D bends. This expansion provided us even more possibilities, widening our product range and enabling us to meet individual customer requirements even better.
Once again, we expanded our production scope in the welding shop with a new machine for bored pile reinforcement cages. This fully automatic machine gives us additional flexibility and productivity to better serve our customers.
In addition, we strengthened our bending shop with a modern, more energy-efficient and user-friendly mobile cutting system. This investment ensures that we continue to meet the highest quality standards.
